Fantastic town museum. Lots of interesting exhibits which are being constantly reviewed and improved.
Run by an impressive team of knowledgeable volunteers.
Many events are hosted here, supporting the community and local schools.
Deserves a visit and support.

I have visited a lot of museums but especially liked this one. Lots to learn about the interesting history of Chard. Bigger than it looks from outside too

Great museum with a wide variety of interesting items ranging from artificial limbs to planes. My two daughters and I easily did 1.5 hours. Parking right outside was free for 2 hrs too. Great volunteer staff.

We had been looking forward to our planned visit and it didn’t disappoint. We were welcomed by volunteer staff Howard and Shirley, who treated us to a well-informed tour of the amazing and nostalgic exhibits. There is something of interest for all ages. We think the museum is a great asset to the town and represents the people of Chard (past and present) in a very knowledgeable way. Joan and Bill

Drove 50 miles only to discover it was shut despite being advertised as open. NOT IMPRESSED, it would be helpful if the staff regularly updated the opening times on Google maps.If possible I would have given a zero rating.(8/1/22)

A small but packed museum telling an interesting history of the area and its notable characters. We visited today and experienced a very well organised and well considered operation given the additional safety measures that need to be in place. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly offering a good balance of time to explore with helping guide us through and sharing knowledge. With 2 young children in tow we were pleased with how they were welcomed and the information shared was geared to them. Would definitely recommend visiting this little gem. A free trip out but a donation should be encouraged to ensure the survival of these lovely little local museums.

Excellent place to visit. Staffed by volunteers who are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I took a coach group here and we were made very welcome. The museum looks tiny from the outside but there is so much to see on the indide - a real Aladdin's Cave of so many items of interest. A must see if you are in the area.

Lots of local history and well worth visiting if you are in the area. I will admit, we were sceptical before stepping inside but once in it opened up into a surprisingly large space with lots of interesting local history. Staff were also helpful and friendly making this a good local attraction
